Welcome to the Camp Nose Fish 2008 home page. This year, we present the American Dreamsicle. We're planning to bring thousands of popsicles and serve them to burners out on the playa and near our camp using our human-powered fishcycle vehicle which will be dressed up as a classic American ice cream truck. We will also set up a chill space in a 2v dome called the "Americana Lounge" that will feature 50s era decor.

Use the links at left to explore the different parts of our web site.

Special note for the Burning Man Placement Team:
If you are pressed for time, here are the crucial links you need:

In the "less is more" spirit, our camp has three main projects:

The American Dreamsicle
(Theme-related)
A human-powered popsicle truck ( aka The Fishcyle ) from which we will disperse thousands of delicious popsicles out on the playa and near our camp.

The Americana Lounge Dome (Theme-related)
It is a 16' diameter, 8' high 2v dome in which people can chill in chairs or an the floor. Decorated with 50s-era objects and art, it will feature a "TV" whose screen is actually a rotating display of photos of garbage and debris. On top of this dome will be the "Nosefish Dome Deck," a small deck with a small 1v dome for shade cover. This is another example of repurposed materials and creating useful and enjoyable, durable and reusable structures with a minimum of materials.

for more information on the dome deck, including complete instructions on how to build one, what materials and tools are required, and lots of tips to make the project safe and as easy as possible.

Chris Pirazzi's MEZ video screen
It is an interactive experience in real-time digital image processing. People dance in front of it and it projects an artisticly enhanced digital image of them. People have given us tremendously positive feedback about this interactive art exhibit. It is one of the most widely recognized parts of our camp. Here is a short clip of the screen one night at Burning Man 2005: MEZ Clip

We hope to be in the 3:00 Plaza again. The Plaza's access to 120v power enables us to present the MEZ project with its computer system, projector, camera and lighting. We also use 120v power for our camp's border lights, music for the Americana Lounge, charging batteries for the lighting system on the Fishcyle, power tools for setup and breakdown, etc.

In 2004, 2005 and 2006 we were proud to be one of the Earth Guardian's Leave No Trace model camps. We also won the coveted "Camp of the Day" award in both 2004, 2005 and 2006! We will continue our LNT tradition and bring only what we need.

Our camp has four other geodesic domes we use as shelter. Suspended from them is a 24'x24' windcloth shade cover, under which we put tents and chairs. We also have our zero-impact nosefish shower. We collect and treat our shower water.

Everyone in our camp shares a solid and creative commitment to having zero net impact on the Playa. We have both an LNT guru and a recycling guru in our camp. Read our cleanup commitment to find out just how hard we work to keep our impact on the playa to a minimum.
